The Lipstick Bandits are back (and so I am- but that’s a different story for a different day!) with a new feature just in time for the dog days of summer- sheer lipsticks that are totally worthy of those melty-sun afternoons. You know what I’m talking about. 😉 A kiss of color and shine that makes eating a Popsicle look like a fine art.

My choice was fairly easy. I had purchased this lipstick last fall and have never done a proper feature on it. It has appeared in comparison swatches but the formula is what makes this stand out above the crowd. It’s the Giorgio Armani Sheer Lipstick in #36

The color verges between coral and pink (a total Danielle shade to be sure). It boasts a juicy shine, buildable color and a texture that feels a lot like buttah- in the best way possible.

Giorgio Armani Sheer Lipstick #36

Swatches L-R: Giorgio Armani #36, MAC Gotta Dash, MAC Full Speed, Chanel Flirt, MAC Flamingo

Like all sheer lipsticks the color you end up with is really dependent on your natural lip color. My lips are naturally a light pink and not very pigmented so for me what you see is what you get for the most part. If your lips are more pigmented I would recommend always trying before buying when you can that way you can avoid spending good money on a lipstick that looks like a clear gloss (yep, happens to the best of us), unless of course that’s what you’re after. 🙂

Product Breakdown:

The Giorgio Armani lipstick formula is comfortable and easy to wear/apply. It’s one of the best sheer formulas I have tried. Although, as with most sheers the wear time isn’t as long as a regular or matte lipstick would be. Verdict? Lipstick Bandit approved for all kinds of summer fun. 🙂

It’s all too frequent that I judge a beauty item by what I see in the pan before I swatch it. Thoughts like “that’s too dark” or “that’s so plain” come to mind. I am finding though, even more frequently, that there can be such beauty that lies beneath something seemingly so average. Case in point, the Giorgio Armani Écailles Cheek and Face Duo- something I hadn’t paid much attention to because of the amazing-at-first-sight Eyes to Kill Silk Shadows (featured here) and the Écailles luxury shadow palette (shown here). I now regret that, and you will see why.

The duo contains a neutral pink that has brown tones to it and a pearl highlighter. It’s encased in Armani’s signature black packaging with a magnetic closure (a feature I enjoy). To truly see the way the light plays off these two colors you need to see it up close…

The powder is *so* finely milled. It’s the same texture as the Giorgio Armani bronzer that I love so much. The pair work well together and create an effortless glow to the cheeks.

See how gorgeous? Flawless, really. The lasting power is excellent. My skin leans oily and especially so in the humid summer months, but this duo lasts through an entire work day on me. I’m definitely impressed!

Of course, you need to see how it actually looks on so…

Also wearing: Eyes- MAC Nubile Paint Pot, MAC Jaunty shadow, MAC Nautical Navy liner. Lips- Fresh Sugar Rose balm.

This duo is limited edition so if it strikes your fancy you will need to act sooner rather than later. It retails for $59 and is worth every penny.

I have never posted a press release before but I feel obligated to share some information with you that really hasn’t been around the blogging block yet. Giorgio Armani is releasing a second collection this summer with 6 new Eyes to Kill Silk Shadows. Yes, you read that right. 6 more new shades to love and lust after. I don’t have ALL the details yet, but here is what I do have.

For a warm summer 2012, Giorgio Armani Cosmetics create new shades of colors, from carat gold to rust bronze with waterproof, creaseproof & smudgeproof electric wet finish. Vibrant colors and metals never seen before…
Eyes To Kill Intense has a new color treatment. Mediterranean warm colors are cut with oxidized and rusted metal-like pigments to create a light finish on the eyelid that perfectly morphs with summer fresh or tanned skin tones.
An exceptionally high concentration of metal-like pigments is coated with the new liquid patina complex that wraps each pigment and acts like a magnifying glass. Rusted electric intensity radiates. Eyes To Kill Intense combines superior color with long lasting wear, capturing the eye with a new dimensional intensity. A breakthrough super shine, high voltage color film glides on and vibrates around the clock. Powder-free, Eyes to Kill Intense blends and layers to create a deep color, creaseproof and “water resistant” that creates a bright wet finish.
A collection of 6 shades has been designed:
3 especially crafted to enhance the tanned skin tone:
24 – Smoky copper
25 – Rusted gold
26 – Carat gold
3 designed to reveal the healthy tone of skin with ice metal tones that refresh the eye
with a metallic wet finish:
27 – Oxidized silver
28 – Red platine
29 – Rose titanium

They are also releasing the waterproof mascara, and waterproof liners in brown and black.

SOOO Exciting! I don’t have a release date yet, but will update this post and let you know when I do!

I will start off by saying I am not really a blue eyeshadow kind of gal. I feel like it has to be the *exact* right shade in order for me to like it and wear it. I think it’s because certain shades of blue remind me of Mimi from The Drew Carey Show. Every once in awhile, though, a blue enters my life that can receive plenty of love. Case in point: the Giorgio Armani écailles luxury eye palette just released from their summer 2012 collection:

A thing of beauty, no? The palette is called a luxury edition for a reason. The compact itself is adorned with genuine Mother of Pearl and is absolutely stunning. The price tag is hefty- $95 and it’s limited edition. My, oh my does Giorgio Armani know how to tug at my heart strings.

The word écailles means scales, and appropriately so for a palette that looks reminiscent of the scales on the tail of a mermaid. The four shades all work well together and all but one have a lovely texture. The white shade is a bit more fussy- it’s almost glittery- but not quite.

Swatches in direct sunlight

If you prefer your shadows with BAM-POW pigment these probably aren’t for you. There was a time when I shunned shadows that didn’t have massive/epic pigmentation. Late last year I changed my tune, though. Buildable shades are much easier to work with for me, particularly when I’m in a rush. I think of it this way now- it’s easier to add to the color then it is to take away from it. My two favorite shades are the teal leaning ones (of course). It terms of pigment and texture they are the best two of the palette.

I am loving how the shades worked together! I haven’t yet tried them with the Eyes to Kill Silk Shadows that were released in the collection (see here and here), but I plan to soon. These  last all day on my eyes without creasing and I only experience a bit of fall out from the white shade

Whether you want eyes that have the feel of seven seas or butterfly wings, this palette has you covered. It’s stunning in every way (including the price tag), but if you are looking to add a beautiful luxury item to your arsenal this summer, this is a great way to do it. Available now from Giorgio Armani.
