FAQ

Q: What prompted you to start your blog and when did you start it?

It was a combination of many things that prompted me to start my blog. A creative outlet that involved writing was something I was looking for and my blog gives me that freedom. I have had a passion for beauty and makeup since I was about 16 years old, so it seemed natural to do this. I also have to give credit to the many other lovely ladies who started far before me for giving me the boost I needed to dive in myself. My first post was Dec. 9th, 2010.

Q: What is your favorite makeup brand?

Ah, the ever-asked and seldom directly answered question! I do not have one sole favorite. It would be like saying I had one favorite food. I don’t! I have several, but some of my favorites are MAC, Chanel, NARS, Milani, NYX, MAKE UP FOREVER, Benefit, Lancome, Korres, Givenchy, Sonia Kashuk, Tarte, Tarina Tarantino, Urban Decay, China Glaze, OPI, Essie, Wet ‘n’ Wild, and ELF. Of course I have tried many other brands, but this was what came to me when I thought about my collection!

Q: What kind of camera do you use?

At present I use a Nikon D3100

Q: Do you prefer High End or Drugstore Makeup?

It really goes on a case by case basis. I have not loved every single thing I have purchased from high end brands or from drugstore brands. But I have found many favorites from both types. That’s really where testing comes in to play. Find somewhere that has a great return policy (like Sephora, Macy’s, Walgreens) and if you don’t like something they will happily refund your money and you can move on. Have I found things that drugstores can’t replicate? Yes, of course. But that doesn’t mean drugstore items are bad. There are many brands (Milani, NYX, Wet ‘n’ Wild) that make high end quality products at budget friendly prices.

Q: Where are you from/where are you located?

I am from and currently reside in the United States. I am originally from Wisconsin but currently live in the Chicago area. I absolutely love living here!

Q: What do you do for a living?/How old are you?/ Are you Married..etc?

As stated in my ‘About Me’ page I work in the financial industry. I don’t care to go much further than that about what I do for a living for privacy reasons. I am currently 28 years old as I write this. I will be married this year!

Hello! I’m wondering if you’d ever consider a blog sale… specifically, I’m trying to hunt down the Sonia Kashuk Reach for the Stars Holiday 2010 nail polishes– I really want the gold color, and am interested in the silver color too… so, if you’re no longer interested in either color, let me know :) Thank you!

Hi Hannah! Thanks so much for contacting me. I may consider a blog sale in future and if I decide to sell the Sonia Kashuk Reach for the Stars trio I will definitely contact you first. I plan to get out those shades and see if I still want them. I will let you know soon.

    Hi doll,

I enjoy your blog very much. Would you mind stating what skin tone you are considered, especially in MAC speak (ie NC20) if you’ve mentioned this elsewhere, I apologize, but it will help me when checking out your reviews & pictures. Thank you & take care.

If you decide to let go of perhaps a BU of your Jemma Kidd Dewy Radiance Illuminator in Rosé Gold put me on the list, I’m dying to get one.

    Great blog beautiful! Take care.

      Hi there!

Thank you! No problem, my skin tone varies throughout the posts as I am generally more tan in the summer months and less so in the winter. I do use a self-tanner and depending on where I am in the self-tan cycle I usually range from NC 25 at my palest to NC37 at my most tan. On average, the swatches you see are NC30. I hope that helps!

Oh no, is the JK Rose Gold not available anymore or hard to find? I’ve only got one (the one I use) but if I had another I’d happily send it. I bought mine from DermStore but I don’t see it in stock there anymore. If I see it in stock anywhere I will definitely put out a PSA!
