Chanel is Sending Me Into a Fall Frenzy!

Eep! Can you believe that fall collections are already starting to drop? We are just completing our first week of summer! Do you ever wish we could tell companies to slow down, and let us enjoy the present? Let us enjoy the colors of the seasons instead of having to scurry and catch up with colors for the next one when we have only just begun! Okay, sorry for the mini rant. I enjoy all the seasons and the changing colors from one to the next, but I’d also like a *teensy* bit more time to live in the moment, you know?

Anyway, that said, Chanel fall has been releasing at various places online and in store over the past two weeks. The only item I have picked up so far is a new nail polish, in a graceful and elegant shade with a minx-y name: Frenzy.

It’s one of those putty type colors that leans somewhere between brown and grey. It could almost be described as a very light taupe because of the mix of brown in it. This color isn’t for everyone, but if you are like me this will be right up your alley.

Frenzy is definitely warmer on me than other colors in the same family have been in the past. It’s chic: understated but polished. The formula was great. It went on smoothly and what you see above is two coats. I can’t speak to wear time as I only just received it. But you better believe I will be tweeting about it once I have had it on my nails long enough ;)

Now for some comparisons!

L-R: Essie Chinchilly, Chanel Frenzy, Essie Sand Tropez, OPI Skull & Glossbones

L-R: Essie Chinchilly, Chanel Frenzy, Essie Sand Tropez, OPI Skull & Glossbones

Chinchilly is much too dark and much more grey while Sand Tropez lacks the grey completely and is more yellow/tan in tone. Skull & Glossbones is much lighter and doesn’t have the brown tone to it.

L-R OPI Moon Over Mumbai, Chanel Frenzy

L-R: OPI Moon Over Mumbai, Chanel Frenzy, Essie Sand Tropez, OPI Skull & Glossbones

I added Moon Over Mumbai as well just because it had a similar grey tone in the bottle. It has shimmer which Frenzy lacks and it’s much less brown (closer to Skull & Glossbones if anything).

L-R: Sephora by OPI Under My Trench Coat, Chanel Frenzy, Butter London Yummy Mummy, Butter London All Hail the Queen

Swatches L-R: Sephora by OPI Under My Trench Coat, Chanel Frenzy, Butter London Yummy Mummy, Butter London All Hail the Queen

Under My Trench Coat has sparkle and is also more khaki in tone. Yummy Mummy is kind of close, but has a pearl finish and is more brown. All Hail the Queen is similar, but quite a bit darker in base tone and it also has holographic shimmer to it.

My first impression is a darn good one. Although I am completely not ready for fall yet (don’t get me wrong, it might be my favorite season), I can see that I will enjoy sporting this when that time comes. For now, I will continue with my obsession with corals and brights because I just can’t help myself. I don’t stick with color “rules” per say, but in the summer I naturally want to wear the brightest, baddest nails and lips I can get away with. Just ‘cuz. ;)

I totally know what you mean about being pushed into the next season…. I love fall, but I need some time with my brights!

This is such a pretty color! Thanks for the comparisons – they’re always so thorough and helpful! :)

  2. Arianne says:

Oooh that’s nice, but what I REALLY love is Essie Sand Tropez. I need that!

  3. Dovey says:

Love this! What a pretty milky and well balanced color :)

  4. Diane says:

Omg I am a sucker for this shade of nail polish!! Looks gorgeous :) I’d totally be in a frenzy too.

  5. Annick says:

Pretty! I thought it would be just like Sand Tropez but it’s not! So glad you compared those two :D

  6. Sarah S. says:

OMG I completely agree with your rant. I don’t want to run out and buy colors meant to suit chillier weather when we’ve got 90s here! Even though new collections are always exciting… by the time I’d wear these colors, the excitement has very much died down :( I’m still wearing pastels, to be honest (not over Spring yet :P ) But thank you so much for all these comparisons! I was thinking Frenzy was my favorite of all these until I saw Butter London Yummy Mummy. I’m definitely putting it on my must-have list for Fall 2012 <3

  7. ahk, not you too! Damn it, now I’m REALLY wanting Frenzy. To me, it’s the PERFECT neutral shade of grey. So lovely!

  8. I have Sand Tropez and Under My Trench Coat – thanks for reminding me of how pretty those are! Frenzy is great but I have my eye on the dark vampy shade. :)

  9. Girl I am so with you on wanting to live a *teensy* bit more in the present (so well said, you had me chuckling!). Hey, I dig this nail polish. I think it is the best of the bunch you showed. The only ones that might slightly rival are both Butter Londons– but I think Frenzy is still a bit ahead. Also, may I just comment on what a crazy good blogger you are? I know it wasn’t easy to apply and reapply to do all those comparison swatches!!

Thanks for the swatches. Comparison posts are helpful and fun.
I wonder who comes up with the names for nail polishes. The colour and the name “Frenzy” are incongruous.

  11. Man Bloomz, I think you need to win an award for the BEST COMPARISONS! Nobody does it like you do! :)
I like this shade a lot! I have All Hail McQueen(from when they renamed it after he died) and it’s my fave Butter London shade to date.

  12. Toya says:

As always – AMAZING comparison post, Danielle! I wonder – today after reading this I came across ‘Chinchilly’, but also ‘Master Plan’, which looked like it might be a closer match. Thoughts?? I don’t think this is a shade that would look very nice on my skintone – too close but too cool and contrasting – but I do ADORE it on you!!! It looks absolutely fantastic.
