New Nails for Summer!

Regardless of what kind of phase I’m in beauty wise, one thing that never changes is my interest in nail polish. It was the first thing I got into when I really starting loving makeup. I change my polish often- usually 2-3 times a week. If it’s a particularly amazing polish I might keep wearing it over and over again. I thought I’d share with you some of the newer colors I have for summer this year.

Chanel Delight- new for this summer and it’s an absolutely stunning. It catches the light so perfectly and it’s not quite bronze, not quite champagne and not quite gold; a nice mix of the three. The formula on this is significantly improved over Graphite from last fall as it lasts several days without chipping.

Sephora Myrtille – I spotted this shade when doing a google search for bright blue polish. I can’t even tell you how many compliments I get when I wear this. I actually wore it for over two weeks straight! It’s an excellent formula too, but I do wish the lasting power were better. For $4 I won’t complain though! As a side note the paint job looks a little streaky but that’s because I was in a hurry and repainted over just to cover tip wear. ;)

Essie Bikini So Teeny – A nice light blue with a touch of lavender. The formula was a bit off on this one. It seemed to have so much excess polish on the brush which is unusual for Essie. Two coats evened everything out nicely. There is some very, very fine micro-shimmer as well. This is one of the rare light blues that I actually enjoy on my skin tone.

Essie Mojito Madness- This suffers from the same formula problems as Bikini So Teeny, but I love the brightness of the shade. I don’t have anything like it!

Butter London Trout Pout- A gorgeous peachy pink. The formula was perfection and this color is so skin brightening. A+

Butter London Slapper- Ok there is a story behind this. It took me ages to get a shot that even remotely captured this color. It’s incredibly bright in person. It’s also more green. This was as close as I could get but you may notice my skin looks yellowed in some areas. That’s because I had to do some color correcting on it to even get it this good. Anyway, the formula is flawless and the color is amazing. Total love!

Some of the next shades on my wishlist include Illamasqua Swinger, Butter London Knackered (can’t decide if I love or hate this polish lol) and possibly some of the new Sephora by OPI shades (though I haven’t seen them in person yet so that could change). Any new polishes you have your eye on or recently purchased that I should be aware of? All of these get my stamp of approval. :)

  1. Aargh I think Delight and I are pretty much meant-to-be! I swatched it in store a couple of days ago, and it has made its way to my sale shopping list. On me it’s an interesting mix of gold, copper, and silver. Kind of like a rose gold from afar!

The sad thing is Chanel nail polishes just don’t seem to last that long on me. I swatched Dior Saint-Tropez on my thumb and Delight on my index finger (no base/top coat of course). 2 days later Saint-Tropez is still pretty much intact but Delight is… chipping off. I wish if it’d last longer with a base coat and top coat, but my experience with Peridot isn’t that good (in terms of lasting power) so I am hoping against hope.

Ugh, I know. When you pay big bucks for polish it should last. Graphite didn’t, even with base and top coat it chipped massively in two days. This doesn’t I don’t always use a base but I do always use top coat. It lasted 3 days with no wear or chips. After that it started wearing and chipping on the tips, but still not nearly as bad as Graphite. Also, metallics tend to chip more regardless are formula or brand in my experience. Creamy, non-shimmer shades always hold up better for me. :)

ahhh I’ve beenlooking for bikini so teeny for a while now! It’s a perfect shade of periwinkle! I also really like that Chanel polish. The metallic would look great with a black bathing suit!

Liz helped me find an alternative to Delight, so I’m happy. I do like the new Essies, though! I got Mojito Madness as a Klout Perk, but I really like the blue one, too. And Butter London Slapper is such a fabulous shade!

    OMG I love all these!

  5. Janine says:

    Delight is just stunning!!

  6. Jessica says:

Oh god! How did I only JUST notice that Delight is so stunning?!

  7. Gosh, I really, really need to get my hands on some Butter London polishes–I really like every single color they come up with! They’re so unique and interesting and still very pretty! And that Sephora Myrtille polish kinda looks like YSL’s new Bleu Majorelle polish!

  8. Katelyn says:

Amazing, they make me long for summer. Sadly it’s winter in Sydney but many of these will be on my wish list. Loving Trout Pout.

  9. Kimberley says:

That Chanel polish is amazing! I have Graphite but I never reach for it, this looks so much better. Also, Trout Pout is one of my favourite polishes! I love polish posts xx

  10. You’re right – I need Sephora Myrtille! And BL Trout Pout.

Slapper looks a lot more blue to me than green, but I hear you on the difficulty of capturing its true appearance on camera. Pretty much impossible!

    • Danielle says:

Yep! I tried so long. My camera was freaking out. It was actually showing it in some photos as a darker blue-grey! -__-

  11. Chanel Delight is amazing!!!

I pretty much love all of these shades Danielle, great choices! Delight looks awesome on you, though I still don’t regret passing it up as it was just NOT made for my skintone :( I just bought Bikini So Teeny and adore it, I want to wear it all the time!! The butter London shades sort of were sleeper hits for me – initially I thought Trout Pout looked super-grannyish, but every time I see swatches I feel so regretful that I didn’t get it! And Slapper is pretty fabulous – I don’t have it to know what it should look like, but from what I know I think you got pretty close! Now I want to go pull all of my faves out :)
