As you may have read in the last post, I am away some place warm and sunny…but Alex from Six Feet in Heels has agreed to take command of the ship while I’m gone. If you don’t know her yet, Alex is a beautiful Canadian blogger who has a wonderful eye for the eclectic, a great fashion sense and is a true beauty fanatic. Show her some love!

Meet Joe Fresh

Hello beauties! I would like to introduce you to a man named Joe. Joe Fresh to be exact. Joe Fresh is a Canadian brand of clothing, accessories and, of course, cosmetics, founded by Joe Mimran, formerly of Club Monaco. They keep their price points low, but don’t skimp on quality and always manage to keep up with trends. I’m going to show you some of my favourite (yes, there is a “u” in favourite here!) Joe Fresh cosmetics picks. Hopefully you’ve got a nice Canuck friend who can post some your way or, depending on Joe’s success in NYC, their whole line may be accessible to you soon!

Cream Blush

Swatches L-R: Bloom (blended, heavy), Flush (heavy, blended)

I’m a cream blush fiend. I love how natural and subtle the flush they give you is and am constantly picking up more. Joe Fresh has a fantastic cream blush formulation: light and blendable, it leaves a dewy, sheer finish. And the $8 price doesn’t hurt either – I can afford to pick up one in every shade! Think Illamasqua cream blushes without so much pigment. I own two shades: Bloom and Flush. They are both very different, but so lovely and versatile. You can also use them as a glossy lip stain!

Swatches L-R: Nude, Strawberry Cream, Berry

Joe Fresh’s lipstick selection is really neat; they make several of their shades in multiple formulas! At $6 each, they’re also affordable enough to allow you to grab a few from each finish. They feature a Cream and Matte line, with some crossover between shades, which I love. The Cream formula is similar to a MAC Cremesheen finish – glossy, moisturizing and smooth to apply. The Matte formula is exactly what you’d expect (and want) from a matte shade – zero shine, yet an easy-to-apply formula that stays put! Of course, the matte line can be a bit drying, but the wear-time is impressive and comparable to higher-end brands. Check out Nude, Strawberry Cream and Berry Matte Lipsticks.

Swatches T-B: Peacock, Pebble

I’m always leery of purchasing drugstore eyeshadows. There’s just something about a buttery, high-end shadow that I truly believe is worth the price! However, I couldn’t resist the $4 price tag and stunning array of colours Joe Fresh offered in the eyeshadow department and caved. Each shadow contains a whopping 3.3g of product, compared to MAC’s which weight in at 1.5g. That means you’re getting more than double in Joe’s! But, that increase in size wouldn’t matter if the quality wasn’t great, right? Well wasn’t I shocked when I swatched Joe’s shadows and discovered that they were fabulous! No, they aren’t dupes for any high-end formula, but they are very smooth. Their matte offerings are particularly good for the price! Here I’ve got Peacock and Pebble shadows.

And there you have it! I hope you feel confident in your knowledge of Joe Fresh cosmetics after this crash course. If you’re lucky enough to find them yourself nearby, do not miss your chance to pick up some quality cosmetics at bargain price points!
