I don’t think I am the only one who was disappointed by the unwearable Pink Friday shade that Nicki Minaj last collaborated with MAC on. It was (and still is) quite ashy and hard for most skin tones to pull off without some kind of additive (another lipstick, lip liner). That’s why when I saw the first promo images of the newest Viva Glam shade my heart skipped a little beat. This was the shade I wanted and hoped Pink Friday would be.
Even if bright, loud pink isn’t your thing, you have to admire MAC’s commitment to the Viva Glam program, where 100% of the proceeds go to fund AIDS research.
This is a lot more similar to the pink Nicki Minaj wears on a regular basis, at least to my eye.

Chatterbox is the only one that comes close but isn’t nearly as bright or intense. No, I guess Viva Glam Nicki is in a class all her own, at least in my MAC range.
My lips were admittedly dry before applying this, but I do have to day the formula is a little drying itself. No matter, a bit of balm will cure that.
I find it actually works nicely on my skin tone; not too ashy or too bright. It livens up my complexion as well. Well worth the price, considering the great cause it goes too.
Have you tried any MAC Viva Glam lipsticks? Does Nicki appeal to you or is bright pink not really your thing?

These photos are in natural daylight, but flash photography makes them brighter, at least on me.
I had the Cyndi Lauper Viva Glam, but I lost it..
I tried the Nicki one yesterday & it was way too bright for my skintone. I guess it would be a good color for me if I wanted something out of my comfort zone. It suits you very nicely though

It looks beautiful on you, Danielle! Other swatches I’ve seen made it seem way too coral for me (almost Vegas Volt-ish!) and I was like oh noooooo. Maybe I’ll swatch it the next time I’m at a MAC counter. I do like the charity aspect.

I have Covergirl Lipstick in Fairy Tale, and I think it would look similar on the lips to this – I may pick it up, but I haven’t quite decided yet!

Viva Glam Nicki is such a peculiar shade— it seems bright and eye catching, but not fluorescent. It’s very pretty on you!
