Recent Drugstore Finds

Good Afternoon/Evening (I guess it could even be morning for some of you ;) )  It’s the middle of the week again! We made it halfway through, so congrats to us! The weekend will be here and gone again in no time, lovely thought isn’t it? LOL.

The other day I was running around getting some errands done, and wherever I go I somehow always end up in the makeup aisle. I could be going for something innocent like toilet paper (true story) and end up spending 20 minutes staring at makeup. It is madness! I don’t even know how it happens sometimes. There must be a hidden magnetic field that pulls me in. It is a conspiracy!

The results of the above madness:

  • Wet n Wild Mega Last Nail Polish in Club Havana ($1.49)
  • Wet n Wild Mega Last lipstick in Cora-line 909D ($2.49)

  • Wet n Wild Color Icon Brow & Eye Liner Taupe ($.69) (not swatched)

L-R: Maybelline Quad, Sonia Kashuk Highlighter, Wet n Wild Cora-line, Wet n Wild Club Havana, Garnier Eye Roller

The Garnier Eye Roller has been in my regular line up for well over a month now, probably since January actually. I love this because it can moisturize under my eyes, makes them feel soft, de-puffs and conceal circles. On days when I do not want or do not need that much coverage, I just use this without any other concealer.

Continuing with my coral craze, I picked up Club Havana and Cora-line (909D) from Wet n Wild. The lipstick is a somewhat matte formula, but doesn’t seem too drying. It lasts a nice long time on my lips. I have not yet tested the nail polish because I had just done my nails when I picked this up. Wasn’t about to ruin a perfectly good mani ;) Both colors are gorgeous and I will definitely be sporting them a lot in the coming months. For less than $4 for both of them, you can’t really go wrong! I also picked up their eyebrow pencil in Taupe for $.69!! How can you go wrong?! Anyway, I found it’s a perfect shade for my brows now that I have gone a bit lighter with the highlights in my hair.

And on to the Sonia Kashuk Super Sheer Shimmering Highlighter* new from her Spring collection available only at Target. I love Sonia Kashuk’s products, always have. While they are pricier than the Covergirl and Maybelline drugstore products, they also have a step up in formula and color, and cuteness that those other brands just don’t have.  This highlighter is phenomenal! I love mixing it with my foundation, moisturizer, tinted moisturizer for an all over dewy glow. Be careful of it’s hair trigger though, you can quickly end up with too much out of the pump! But if you use a light touch, you can get the perfect amount of sheer bronzey glow. Love this stuff! It isn’t sticky, and it feels very lightweight going on the skin!

Maybelline Mythical Mermaid Quad Swatches

I wasn’t looking for this, but it caught my eye and I knew (the name helped) it had to be mine. This will be great for the summer. If you have ever tried these quads you know they are smooth and buttery, and quite shimmery. My favorite shade is the deep emerald, which will be great to use wet as a liner! I used this on Monday to create a light spring green eye for work, and I loved it! It is limited edition, so if you think you might like this palette, I would go check it out soon!

Anything catch your eye? Already have some of the products I mentioned? Do share!

Lovely swatches of the eyeshadows! I’m in need of a nice green.

    • Thank you, River! This is definitely an affordable option for greens this spring. They aren’t too over the top, but do provide good texture and pigmentation. Let me know what green you end up getting!

That dark circle roller is one of my favorite things even though mine leaks into the cap and is super messy. It’s the only thing that manages to save my face from those wretched dark circles! It’s great for awful hangover eyes too! ;)

That highlighter looks gorgeous! I don’t have any Sonia Kashuk but you’ve convinced me that I need to check it out!

    • Kayla- OMG I LOVE Sonia Kashuk. I am not kidding when I say I eagerly await every collection she puts out. If you have never tried her brushes, you are missing out as they are extremely good quality! The highlighter will be great to mix with tinted moisturizer this summer!

LOL! Yes, it really works wonders for my circles too, hiding those “stayed up too late chatting on twitter and reading blog posts” nights. Which seem to be happening more and more frequently ;)
