Happy hump day again! I know I say this all the time, but where in the heck does the week go? I really have no idea how it can already be the middle of the week! But I am glad it is, because the last of my Milani Baked Blushes arrived today and now I can share them with you! This isn’t a review on all of them as I have only been testing two of them…but if the rest are anything like what I have been trying, girls you need to grab a couple of these if you see ‘em (they can be difficult to track down)!

Milani Baked Blush L-R: Luminoso, Rose D'Oro, Coralina

Milani Baked Blush Swatches L-R: Luminoso, Rose D'Oro, Coralina

The first three are my favorites of the ones I have. Not surprisingly since I LOVE peaches and corals. Luminoso is the exact true light peach I have been searching for. This one is a must have in my opinion! It is so glowy and natural.

You ladies know I have posted quite a few coral blushes and Coralina definitely knocks it out of the park. It is the perfect summery bright (but not loud or garish) coral. It is shimmery and wonderful and my very favorite shade from this collection.

Rose D’ Oro is also a wonderful, deeper coral that is soft and smooth. I had initially heard this touted as a dupe for Stereo Rose, which I already have and didn’t want another of. But Rai from Glam Morena sent me a link to a picture that made them look very different, and therefore worth owning both. Having said that, I wanted to post a picture with my take on the two colors side by side

Milani Rose D'Oro (L) vs MAC Stereo Rose (R)

Although they are definitely in the same color family, I wouldn’t call them dupes. Maybe distant cousins? Rose D’Oro is more pigmented, and softer than Stereo Rose (sorry MAC, I still love you though). I love the shimmer in Rose D’ Oro because Stereo Rose looks more like a frost than a shimmer. And I know the picture isn’t the greatest, but I had a VERY difficult time capturing these two colors accurately on film. In person though, Stereo Rose is more frosty than Rose D’ Oro and leans more pink, while Rose D’Oro has fine shimmer and leans more orange. After all the hoops I (like many others) jumped through to get Stereo Rose, it turns out the Milani version is just plain better!

Milani Baked Blush L-R: Dolce Pink, Fantastico Mauve, Red Vino

Milani Baked Blush Swatches L-R: Dolce Pink, Fantastico Mauve, Red Vino

Once again, these colors are so dimensional that they are difficult to capture on film. They all have the same softness as the ones above, making them excellent for blending and building up or sheering out depending on our skin tone. Dolce Pink looks more pink in person as it seems to be coming up slightly more lavender in the photo. It is a gorgeous everyday pink and a wonderful addition to any collection. Fantastico Mauve is just that, a fantastic mauve! It is the least shimmery of the ones I have, but I can see this being a great color for fall or those with darker skintones. Same goes for Red Vino. This is a complex and beautiful shade. I adore it! I do not have a color quite like this in my collection and I am happy to have picked it up. It isn’t quite berry but it’s not quite red. Very unique shade!

All in all I give Milani Baked Blushes a big ‘ol A+. The colors, the blendabilty and formula are all spot on and rival much more expensive and hard to find items. I know these are available on Milani’s website but can also be found in drugstores like Walgreens and Target. It really varies by location though, so it’s best to call in advance to see if they carry it. Cherry Culture is out of stock on most of them the last time I checked, but I am sure they will be back soon. The price varies depending on where you buy, but generally they will run about $7.99/each. A total bargain in my opinion. I am a total blush addict and I am just as thrilled about these as I am about my Tarte clay blushes! Happy hunting ladies, and share your favorite shade(s) below!

29. 03. 2011

Hellllloooo all. I feel like this week is going by super fast. Tomorrow is already Wednesday! Wow. Anyway, I am sorry for lack of comments on others blogs and slow response to comments here. I have been having a couple of late nights at the office and barely have time to eat and take off my makeup before going to bed, le sigh. But, my schedule should be easing up as the week goes on. Anyhow, the other day I got to thinking about lotions, body sprays and perfumes. I haven’t done a post like this before, but I thought I’d share some of my favorites!

First up, body sprays and my favorite Bath and Body Works Lotion:

L-R: B&BW Rice Flower & Shea Lotion, Calgon In the Rain, B&BW Rice Flower & Shea Spray, B&BW Sweet Pea Spray

For awhile Rice Flower & Shea was not available. But I am happy to report it is back (has been for at least a year if not more). The story behind this scent is pretty simple. This was the first scent ever given to me by a boy and it was from the man I am still with today (highschool sweethearts folks, no lie). These aren’t the originals of course, I used them up long ago. But I have since repurchased and it is one of the few scents that I will always always cherish because it reminds me of the wonderful times we have had and still have together. Funny how a scent does that you! I cannot describe this scent accurately except that if you know what shea butter smells like, you can definitely detect it in here. But there is something simple, classic and romantic about this scent that makes me love it so much.

Calgon’s In the Rain is a scent I like for a similar reason. Although I rarely use body sprays anymore, I enjoy the fresh, after the rain scent this gives. It is also a favorite of the boy ;). I do not know if this is even made anymore!

And of course, one of Bath and Body Works most popular scents, Sweet Pea. You all know this scent. It’s girly, fun, and light. Have repurchased this several times in many forms. Love it.

DKNY Rollerball, DKNY Be Delicious, Benefit Garden of Good & Eva and So Hooked on Carmella

DKNY Be Delicious has to be hands down my favorite perfume of all time (which used to be Clinique Happy). I like the other variations of this too, but Be Delicious is the best. I also bought the rollerball with DKNY Fresh Blossom on one side and Be Delicious on the other. I did that for portability and because my mom told me that she mixes the two sometimes and loves the smell they create together. She was right! It is a fresh, apple-y scent and cannot be replicated by other perfumes. It has been a staple for me for about 3 years now. I always feel so fresh and awake and feminine when I wear it. It isn’t strong or heavy at all, which I hate in a perfume.

Benefit’s Garden of Good & Eva (how adorable is the packaging and name by the way, squeal!!) is similar to DKNY Be Delicious in that it is more natural and fresh scented. Benefit describes it as “a crisp and fresh citrus floral” and I would have to agree. It is fresh. I really really enjoy this scent.

Also from Benefit’s Crescent Row perfume collection is So Hooked on Carmella, which is described as “a floral vanilla that’s exquisitely feminine” and again they are pretty spot on. When I first heard about these perfumes and tested them in Ulta last year, I did not think I would like Carmella. I am not a fan of vanilla-y perfumes or body sprays as they tend to be too heavy and over-powering. Carmella is not that kind of vanilla. When I wear Carmella, I feel sexy and feminine. It’s my preferred date/going out perfume.

L-R: Clinique Happy, Coach Poppy, VS Sweet Daydream, VS Love Spell

Clinique Happy–what can I say here that hasn’t been said anywhere else. Fresh and light and…well, happy! Like sunshine in a bottle, Clinique Happy has been a staple of mine for years and years.

Coach Poppy is a newer scent to my collection. When I first tested it out at the Coach store I knew it was going to one day be mine. And sure enough, I found a home for it in my stash. It is described as “sweetly scented jasmine and gardenia mingle with fresh cucumber and candied rose petals in a pretty, lighthearted fragrance.” Sweet? Floral? Light? Yes please! This is one perfume you ladies all need to smell! I love love love it and it may even knock DKNY Be Delicious out of first place!

The last two I am sharing with you for now are my two favorite Victoria’s Secret scents. Sweet Daydream which smells sugary and sweet like candy and Love Spell is described as “a lavishly lush blend of peach, cherry blossom and white jasmine” I am not good with describing scents so I will go with that. Suffice it to say it smells floraly and fresh, just like many of the others I have already mentioned. It seems like fresh, floral, citrus and jasmine all make up my favorite perfumes and scents.

How about you ladies? Any scents get you SCENT-imental (sorry I couldn’t resist!) ? What are your favorites for everyday?

Happy Monday all! Did you enjoy your weekend? I know mine went zooming by. I did get the chance to go shopping this weekend, and of course I visited my two favorite places, Sephora and MAC. I will be sharing the results of that over the coming weeks as I have opportunity to test the new things I have. Swatches of some new MAC lipsticks (new to me) will be coming this week as well!  Anyhow, I wanted to give my MAC Chromagraphic Pencil in Primary Yellow a whirl since I have been seeing yellow on the eyes in EVERY magazine I pick up! Here are the results:

FOTD with MAC Primary Yellow!

The product rundown:

Face:

Lips:

I cannot tell how many compliments at the MAC counter I got, as well as at Ulta and Sephora. Everyone LOVED the yellow. I am so glad that I purchased it because it really doesn’t look so harsh with the right complimenting makeup. What do you think? Would you sport the yellow liner trend?

Good evening! Just wanted to share a FOTD with you all today because I discovered a nude brown lip combo that I love!

I really loved the easy simplicity of this look. It looked put together and work appropriate and the Peacock liner adds a little fun to it. The lip combo is my favorite part of this look! Share your thoughts! What is your favorite lip liner and lipstick combo?

Hellooo ladies! Wednesday again! Time flies…I cannot wait for this weekend. My mom and I are both makeup junkies and we are heading out shopping on Saturday. I hope to find some great items to bring back and share with all you. Share your plans, got anything super fun going on?

When I was in New Orleans …two weeks ago already! :( I stopped by a Guerlain Spa they had down there just to check out what they had. I ended up picking up two things that day, one I am about to share with you and the other I returned. If you follow me on twitter, you know that when I brought it (a very pretty blush) back to the hotel and opened it, it was smashed to bits. So I returned it the next day. What I kept though, was the Guerlain Meterorites Perles Light-Diffusing Perfecting Primer (a mouthful!).

Guerlain Meteorites Primer (Wet n Wild 222c Orange on nails)

I am so grateful that the woman there showed this to me. It is a phenomenal product. I had totally never heard of this before on any blog I read or any Youtube videos I watch, so I didn’t necessarily have too high of expectations. Afterall, if it was so great, wouldn’t everyone and their mother already be using it and talking about it? Normally, I have combination skin, with my forehead being a great big oil slick before 5pm everyday NO MATTER WHAT I TRIED. I mean it, I have tried (and returned) several items that are supposedly “oil controlling” that never do the job. Or, if they do, they make your skin look all flaky and gross (I’m looking at you Urban Decay De-slick lotion!). This wasn’t even touted to me as an oil-controlling product. Basically the saleswoman said that it makes your foundation apply more smoothly, brightens complexion and makes your face makeup last twice as long. I cannot say that it makes my makeup last twice as long, but I can say this is the only product I have ever used that gives a smoothness to my skin without feeling like silicone AND that really prevents the forehead oilies I am prone to. Double-bang! Plus it really does brighten up my skin. Check out below what it looks like on my skin.

Guerlain Meteorites Perles Primer- 1 pump

See how sparkly and light-catching that is???? This is a pretty generous pump. Normally I don’t use that much for my face. I use about a half a pump. This product is going to last a long time. I paid around $65 for this, but it seems to vary slightly depending on what retailer you buy it from. I didn’t know how much it was, but when I asked for the price I had prepared myself for it to be about $90…so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out the actual price! This is the biggest jar of primer I have and for the cost and the multi-tasking it does it is SO worth it!

I also wanted to quick mention my nails. My boyfriend and I were at a Walgreens not too long back and I was looking at their nail polishes. He was with me (such a good sport) and he pointed to this polish (Wet n Wild 222c Orange) and said, “Get that one it’s really cool!” Now, normally, my boyfriend doesn’t have such strong reactions to makeup, so when he does, I go for it man! And when I finally wore this I got soo many compliments on it. Above I am wearing it with two coats, but it probably could have used a third (I am just too lazy most days to bother with three coats of polish, feel me on this ladies?). But I do really enjoy this fun, summery color.
